Legend has it that in northwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern New
York, there is something strange lurking in the deep woods and
along the rivers and creeks of the area. A tall hairy creature that
stands upright, with the strength of five men. He is rarely seen
during the day, or even at all, but anyone that hikes or camps in this
area knows that that crackling twig, that snapping branch, that
strange growling noise just might be Bigfoot.
As far back as November of 1921, Jack McKain, a woodsman,
reported a strange animal that came to his cabin in the woods and
helped itself to McKain’s food. The cabin was in the Kinzua area.
Several years later, when the Kinzua Dam was being built, it was
reported that the Army Corp of Engineers came across the skeletal
remains of what appeared to be a human, but would have been
much larger than any human to date. The stories of Bigfoot
abound, here in Warren and Mcean County, to such an extent that
on October 29th of 2008, MSNBC did a report on Bigfoot in the
Warren County area. Since then, photos of a large, hairy creature
have been taken by a local hunter. Bigfoot sightings have been
reported on Marilla Springs Trail. Large scat, too large to have been
from a bear, has been found in Indian Run Rocks and actual
sightings near Sugar Bay and Johnsonburg areas. Bigfoot truly does
roam this area. Are you brave enough to follow the Bigfoot Traders
Trail?

up of businesses that would like to provide you, our visitors, friends,
and customers with products, services, food, wine, and

snowmobiling. We have skilled craftsmen offering fine wines, jewelry,
and crafts of all kinds. Local museums, like the Fenton Historical
Museum, The Lucy-Desi Museum, famous naturalists like Roger
Tory Peterson, and nature areas like the Audubon Center. There
are fine restaurants, hotels, and Bed & Breakfasts to help revive
your energies, so that they can be further spent antiquing and
shopping around Warren, or even curling up with a good book from
our book stores.
The Bigfoot Traders Trail offers a little of everything
for our visitors. Even car repair,
beauty shops and local banks can
be found on the trail.
The Bigfoot Traders are a small group of local businesses that are
trying to assist visitors in the area to find their way to a great time
while they visit. With so much to do in this area, why would anyone
have to visit anywhere else?
So, when in northwestern Pennsylvania
or southwestern New York...
